The Gift

Steve Prefontaine was a famous runner, unique like no other. He was a front runner who would shoot out and lead the race from beginning to end, wearing out his competition until they had nothing left to out-kick him near the end.

With a great philosophy, he believed that we should give our absolute best at whatever we do and doing well any other way is not the right way. I gained part of my internal drive to do well in everything from Pre.

The gift is a God given talent that everyone has, whether it may be athletics, smarts, or just being social. We all have one and it is our job to use our gifts and talents to benefit the world. If we are not using them to the best of our ability then all of those amazing gifts go to waste.

"To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift." -Steve Prefontaine

Introduction

So I've decided to start blogging because my teacher wants me too. As a major in Mass Communications at Winthrop University, we learn that writing is the base for everything.

Okay, I was kidding. That is one of the many reasons I'm doing this.

One thing not many people know about me is that I love to write. It's something I've always enjoyed and for some reason I have always managed to express words better on paper than actually speaking them (if that makes any sense).  I guess it's why I'm kind of a quiet guy, because I don't like speaking much.

Secondly, my sister Hannah, was a huge inspiration. She writes a blog called Agape and it mainly talks about her spiritual journey and Christian faith.  She talks about other random things with cute little anecdotes and stuff like that too.  Anyway, I have learned so much from it and would highly recommend it to anyone.

And lastly, I just need a place to vent my opinions sometimes and I figured this would be the place to do it.

I'm sure you are asking what I'm going to write about by now. Well the truth is, it's going to be about anything and everything that comes to mind.  I figured just focusing on one topic would be limiting myself.

I guess you will learn more about me as I get deeper into this thing, but for now, I hope I haven't bored you too much!
